Verónica, pionera en la joyería sostenible en Ecuador, en el 2008 nace tu marca con el concepto de joyería de autor. Creando de esta forma un accesorio que actualmente cumple estándares altos de sostenibilidad. Cuéntanos desde tu perspectiva millenial ¿cómo ha sido este reto que iniciaste en el 2008 de la mano de tu mamá y cómo ha evolucionado llegando a convertirse en referente de joyería sostenible en el país?

Ha sido un gran reto y la vez una gran oportunidad. Cambiar poco a poco lo que dicta el mercado en esta “era del descarte” en donde la consigna habitual es producir en grandes cantidades, a bajo costo y con la intención de poca duración, para de esta manera seguir consumiendo y desechando…

Nuestra propuesta desde inicio ha sido la de revalorizar y enaltecer la labor manual, proponiendo diseños únicos e irrepetibles, redefiniendo el lujo, con propuestas disruptivas en cuanto a materiales a la hora de crear: elaboramos joyas con tetrapak, desechos textiles y electrónicos, entre otros; nuestro oro proviene de economía circular y además reciclamos nuestros propios resi- duos de metal.

Hacer las cosas de manera distinta, cambiado el lente en el que usualmente se mira nuestro mercado, nos llevó en febrero al NYFW (New York Fashion Week) uno de los eventos de moda más relevantes del mundo, en donde tuvimos la oportunidad de presentarle al mundo diseño y consciencia ambiental en una sola pasarela, llevando en alto nuestra bandera.

En noviembre de 2019, tu empresa da un salto después de que la consultora Sambito hiciera la medición de la “huella de carbono de Martalía ”, tanto en el espacio en el que venden sus diseños, como en el taller en donde elaboran sus piezas. Cuéntanos un poco Verónica, ¿cómo ha repercutido esta certificación en los primeros meses del 2020 en tu negocio y que esperas para los años venideros.

Me gustaría dividir esa respuesta en dos, en lo personal y en lo profesional.
Sí bien es cierto que Martalía, y como tal nosotras, tenemos en nuestro ADN la sensibilidad por el medio ambiente, puedo concluir que vivir esta metodología para tomar conciencia de las emisiones nos hizo generar cambios no sólo en el taller y en el local, sino en nuestros hogares también. Y digo nuestros, porque este estilo de vida se transmite hacia los colaboradores y en muchos casos, a nuestros clientes. Así nos lo demuestran en las redes sociales.

Adicionalmente, sin haber buscado eso, pero debo confesar, que nos ha ayudado a seguirnos posicionando en la moda sostenible y como tal, ser referente en este tipo de prácticas.

Cuéntanos un poco Verónica desde tu experiencia laboral y perfil profesional joven y cargado de ideas innovadoras, ¿cuál ha sido el valor agregado que con- sideras más sobresaliente y de remarcar al momento de liderar Martalía frente al mercado ecuatoriano y cuál es tu visión como negocio sostenible para el futuro próximo?

¿Valor agregado? Ahora que me haces esa pregunta me doy cuenta que a nosotros nos gusta siempre regresar a describir nuestro ADN.

Miro para atrás y veo que lo que hemos construido junto a mi mamá, los colaboradores y yo, lo hemos hecho porque amamos lo que hacemos, porque creemos en las causas que perseguimos.

Pero sí, hemos sido disciplinados, hemos sido coherentes, buenas administradoras, y nos hemos sabido rodear de los mejores, ¡siempre!

Creemos en un mundo más sostenible y justo. Nuestro vehículo para llevar ese mensaje, son las ¡joyas!
